Looking for a student ID card? Need to renew your existing card? Read on for information on how to get or renew your AU student ID card.
The AU Student ID card is your gateway to getting discounts on items such as travel, restaurants, banking, software and other commonly purchased products. ID cards are issued for the academic year (September 1 to August 31) in which they are processed. To get an AU Student ID you have two options:
- You may visit the Office of the Registrar at Athabasca University Central, Edmonton Learning Centre or Calgary Learning Centre to have your photograph taken. You will receive the photo-id card in the mail within three weeks.
- If you are unable to come to one of the locations during business hours, you can complete a photo ID request form and forward it to the office via mail or fax. You must scan a passport sized photograph and the front portion of your diver’s license. This provides AU with a photo, name, date of birth, and current mailing address that they use for verification purposes. Attach both the passport-sized photo and driver’s license to an email message addressed to email@example.com. Once the form and the electronic photograph and driver’s license have been received, we will verify your details and mail the photo ID card to you.
When your ID card expires and your are continuing your studies beyond this time frame, you will need to have your ID updated in order for it to be recognized by external organizations. An annual update sticker can be provided by going to the Office of the Registrar at Athabasca University Central, Edmonton Learning Centre or Calgary Learning Centre. If you are unable to come to one of the three locations you can forward a signed request to the office via mail or fax; you can also email a request — including your name, student ID number, and mailing address — to firstname.lastname@example.org.
