The Co-Curricular Transcript

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

I'm sure that all of you are familiar with the concept of a transcript.  It is an official document created and distributed by the University which tracks the learning that you have accomplished during your time here at Athabasca.

Or do they?

If you look at a transcript it will list the courses you have taken along with their outcome.  But, if you are a typical student, you have probably learned a lot more during your time here than what is reflected on your transcript.

That is where a co-curricular transcript can come in.  A co-curricular transcript would list all of the official courses that you have taken, as well as making additional information about your time at Athabasca available on your transcript as well.  This could include different groups you have volunteered with, non-credit professional development courses, clubs that you have joined, and honours or awards that you received.

As this information would be recorded on your transcript, it would be an official part of your academic record, as well as looking more official when it is presented to potential employers.

AUGSA and Athabasca University are beginning discussions about the possiblity of implementing co-curricular transcripts here, and we would like to get your thoughts about them.  We've set up a quick poll (it should take just a minute or two) to find out what you think of the idea, and you can leave longer comments about them in the AUGSA group on The Landing (https://landing.athabascau.ca/pg/groups/15119/augsa/).
